WELCOME TO LITTLE ENGLAND NURSERY
Little England Nursery is the latest addition and the first overseas member of The Davan Group to join our family of pre-school education conglomerate in the United Kingdom. Together with our undying passion and unrivalled aptitudes of working with children for well over a decade, we can introduce and offer “what we do best” for our children in Sri Lanka.
We offer a play-based learning approach which brings out the best interest of children to explore and excel in their journey to the next stage of learning. Little England Nursery follows a combination of Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) which is mainly practiced in the UK and Association Montessori International (AMI) method practiced in Sri Lanka, which ensures the entry level qualification to both international and government schools in our country.
Our aim is to provide learning, development and a sense of wellbeing to all children at Little England through indoor and outdoor activities which are mainly play based and are in a healthy balance of adult led and child-initiated opportunities.
OUR NURSERY
Learning Through Play
The educational programs at Little England Nursery were created with our children’s needs in mind: to mature and develop in a safe yet stimulating environment. Take a look below to learn more about our beliefs.

BEHAVIOUR
Little England Nursery has a policy on behaviour. We aim to develop an atmosphere of respect for other people and property.
Children will be helped to understand that certain behaviour is not acceptable or appropriate, because it is unsafe or unfriendly.
Under no circumstances will a team member smack or humiliate a child who has shown unacceptable behaviour. Instead, the child will be spoken to and helped to understand why their actions were unacceptable.
All good behaviour shown by children will be praised and encouraged by the staff.

OUR CURRICULUM
Early Years Foundation Stage
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the British Curriculum we incorporate into our learning and development.
The EYFS Framework describes how we should work with children and their families to support their development and learning. It describes how your child should be kept safe and cared for and how all concerned can make sure that your child achieves the most that they can in their earliest years of life.
It is based on four important principles. These are:
– A Unique Child- Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
– Positive Relationships – Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and a key person.
– Enabling Environments – The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
– Learning And Development – Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and interconnected.
Early learning is the key to your child’s future and families make the greatest difference at this stage.
Areas of Learning and Early Learning Goals
The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is organised into seven areas of learning:
– Children should mostly develop the 3 Prime Areas first. These are:
– Personal, social and emotional development
– Communication and Language
– Physical Development
These Prime Areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.
As children grow, the Prime Areas will help them to develop skills in 4 Specific Areas. These are:
– Literacy.
– Mathematics.
– Understanding of the world.
– Expressive Arts and Design.

SAFE, LOVED & LEARNING
Safe
Because your child is special, we make safety and security a top priority. The nursery school and it’s equipment have been designed and selected to meet the highest safety standards. All coming and goings are monitored carefully. All staff and official visitors wear identity badges. No unauthorized person can gain access to the nursery school.
We will not release your child to anyone other than you, unless we have your permission to do so. We aim to ensure that every member of staff is a qualified first aider. We have 24 hour CCTV throughout the nursery.
Learning
Children learn best through first hand experiences. We encourage purposeful play as the most important tool for learning in the early years. Our approach is child centered, with every activity and experience built on what each child already understands and enjoys, ensuring each step meets with success and confidence. We incorporate many varied principles at Little England, including an active learning approach where children have the opportunity to make choices, set their own goals and select materials, activities and play partners. Adults encourage children’s intentions, reflections, problem solving and creativity by forming partnerships with children, and following children’s ideas and interests.
Loved
Happy children make confident learners. Children are happy when they feel safe and loved, where they feel they belong. We select and screen our nursery nurses on the basis of their warmth towards young children. Our staff understand that the way they talk, encourage, praise and support will influence your child’s self esteem.
